Well I took it to work and cut it off about an inch behind the plate. Not that much louder and seems not to have that exhaust bog feeling when it's in high gear. Running completely without it sounded awful, and made no performance difference. I may use the plasma cutter at work to cut around where the rolled area is and weld in a bigger dia. pipe.
