Dunno if they're still around but there used to be a company that used modular disks at the end of their exhaust. You could add or substract these modules to get the sound/power level you wanted for the conditions of the moment. Was a great system and I had several friends that bought the pipes and were very pleased with the result.
they were a bit pricey, but if you could find that setup used..... I had the chance several times to wander thru a motorcycle junk yard and it was amazing how many good parts were available on the bikes there. If you have one local to you, might be a good place to start looking on the cheap.
