Hawk Vibration noise gas tank fenders
My bike has a vibration sound here
I tighten the bolts and the noise keeps on coming.... Has any one has had this problem and found a fix for it? |

Some people have reported the little cover that goes over the gas tank key hole vibrates and buzzes. Other than that remove everything including the tank and install fiber and/or rubber washers at every bolt/screw. Washers are available at your local ACE Hardware.

I was thinking was the valves but I adjusted them to specs. Next weekend I'm taking it all apart and putting rubber spacers all around the tank and tank fenders.
Or I will go MAD! |

A lot of people have issues with the gas cap vibrating, mine does it too and it gets louder when the tank is just about empty. I found that my exhaust heat shield was also slightly buzzing too. I tack welded the heat shield on, but you may want to look into a different gas cap overall. I tried bending the cover on the cap and putting rubber between it and only helped a little.

Good Vibrations
I think the hawk has a normal amount of vibration. I used to ride a xl250 and it had some nasty vibes too at high rpm. These bikes are just not made to be smooth and quiet. Most manufacturers (Even Japanese) completely forgo the NVH programs typically employed on street bikes. I think if your complaining about vibration then maybe you should be riding a street bike. And certainly stay away from harley davidsons.

What I was talking about is some metal part being loose in the tank area that others have experience before and no need to be rude about it.

Yes, could be the tank plastic vibrating and using the tank metal as a sounding board. Or the tank could be touching the frame, somewhere. Have you tried taking the tank plastic pieces off and riding it to see if that is where the problem is?

I missed the bottom clip when I put my left side plastic on the tank. The metal clip can also be pushed in to hold it tighter.
