Sprocket not engaging rear wheel..

ok, need some help...went on a ride today..and at a stop sign I shiften down to 1st gear and then the sprocket wouldnt engage the rear wheel..it just spun and I didnt go anywhere? any ideas whats wrong and how to fix it? thanks!

Are you saying that chain was spinning and the rear wheel wasn't turning or that the clutch was out and no go, no chain movement, just the motor running.

yes chain was spinning, rear wheel not moving..

Sounds like possibly the sprocket bolts have sheared.

how it that possible, the bike only has 34 miles on it and it appears those are lock nuts..and I wasnt riding it hard...

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post a photo if you can. Did you get the bike at a dealer?

no bought it used...but a pic doesnt show anything, I dont have the rear wheel off yet, It just happend today...so are there bolts underneath the sproket that hold it to the hub? its so weird...the sproket still feels tight to the hub when I try to move it with my hand..

That is strange. Some of us have experience failure of the hubs, but not at 34 miles.

Fatboy250 has some custom parts in his hub after finding them loose.

If it's like the Lifan, the sprocket isn't really bolted to the hub. Instead it is held in place by a big snap ring. What looks like bolts are actually studs that fit into rubber buffers in the hub.

Q, u were right...all four of those posts were shredded off...seems kinda cheesy how it stays on...so u are really relying on that snap ring..one of the posts is stuck in the hub, and three have the nuts on the other side of the sprocket still..ugghh. is there a better way to attach it? where do I get those studs from? and is there a better rear hub/wheel/sproket setup tht someone else has used? and what size do I look for? thanks!
