Question Bashan Storm bogs with more throttle - fuel octane?

Hello,

My Bashan Storm bogs down when I apply more throttle. I'm using old-ish, regular octane fuel from my shed.

Do I just need new fuel, or does the storm run better with a higher octane fuel, or is it something else?

Did you leave it over the winter with gas in it?
Did you make any changes?
Don't use old gas.. flush it out, put in new and add a bit of sea foam/ You can't trouble shoot with old gas in. I always run mine on low grade and it's been fine

sounds like the air issue could be ,old gas wont help i am useing 89 ,but fresh 87 should be fine, stock carb ? ,if so look to the upgraded carb also i am finding out it takes 100 to 200 miles to break them in an get the full power of the 229cc more like 500, along with the right carb tuning an air to it,right now mine wont go over 40mph ,but i am at 75 miles an geting ready to do the carb & jeting as wel as the crf 230l aftermarket exhaust ,the carb should bring a few hp also you may want to adjust the valves ,as well ,

so there is a list of the recomened upgrades to them is why i dont have 500 miles on mine yet ,it can take some time to get the bikes right ,in my case going slow to make sure i get most of the important ones ,so in the next few weeks, i will be tearing mine down an doing a ton of crap to it , genuine mikuni carb an jets air box exhaust valves lash adjustment , also like greasing the swing arms bearings wheel bearings an the steering post bearings an fork oil ,as well as the chain an sprockets for last ,then some dual sport tires for the road, then i am still not done but getting there

Also going to trim my seat to make it as flat as possible ,lowering the rear break pedal as well ,softer hand grips for vibration, helps remind me ,edit to my list of things to do

I recommend non-Ethanol Premium because of less issues if the bike is not used at least weekly. I would definatley get rid of the old fuel and use fresh, especially if it was regular...ARH

Just like Timcosby said im almost certain this is a choke issue, it has happened to me when I wasnt paying attention, then I was like duhhhh my choke was the wrong direction. I moved it and Bang! my bike was just fine.

The choke lever is in the 50% position, so that is no doubt the issue. Until now, I couldn't find the choke, so I assumed this model didn't have one. Thanks all!
