Wheel change, 21/18 to 17/17

On my 200GY. Does anybody know if any rims have the same spoke count? If I supply rims and spokes a local joint will do it for $95, not terrible. Or is there any other way I can get 17s for my GY, maybe a cheaper alternative?
Maybe an 18 front for the time being, closer to what I want without all the hassle. Tire availability for said combos? 17/17 or 18/18? Going for a supermotard look. Looking for aggressive dual sport tires, primarily street.

Thank you for starting a new thread on this subject, Rusche. The Lifan front wheel has 36 spokes, which is common for many rims. I don't know the spoke count for the Lifan rear wheel, but I am confident it also employs a common rim.

I ran a pair of 18-inch wheels on my Zongshen 200GY-2, and I think the bike looked good with this configuration.

You will have a better choice of aggressive, dual sport tires, and you conversion costs will be less, if you choose a pair of 18-inch wheels. If you're interested, I have a used, Lifan front hub, and a used, 18-inch rim for sale. I charge $55 to lace, and true a motorcycle wheel. If you're possibly interested in having me build you an 18-inch, front wheel, send me a personal message, and we can discuss the details.

That was me, and I haven't bought the bike yet.I'm planning to buy Barnone's Qlink XF200 and upgrade to 21/18.Problem is,the GY wheels and hubs are different from the XF200.It'd be a no go, unless the spoke count was the same and both of us could get the correct spokes. Then it's just a matter of swapping rims.

Does anybody know of any wheels that will bolt on? Maybe like an XR200 or something? I'm thinkin about maybe just going 18 front, to give that supermoto style, but keep the cost down.

I think someone reported he mounted two Lifan, sport bike wheels on his GY200. If you search this forum, you can find find the thread; it was posted fairly recently. However, these wheels did not employ spokes, so they would not work well for off road applications.

There's a dozen different hub types, but 90% of them have the same OD bearings. Swap bearings and spacer and you should only have to worry about caliper clearance. Neither here nor there, though.

I kinda agree.Bearing ID is the critical part and hub width. No matter what hub is used, every thing from the spacers, brake assembly, sprocket carrier, and hardware will be needed. Then the hub may not be able to use the correct tooth count sprocket, or the correct chain type sprocket may not be available for the hub.I would really wanna be able to buy cheap off the shelf sprockets.
