My 08 Yamaha WR250R
I decided I didn't want to wait for the new CRF250L so I started to look for a WR. Found one 20 mins away for short money and low miles. ($3100 and 2700 miles) Only real issue is a leaking fork seal which I fixed today.
(I did a full tear down and clean/check it all out) I am going to lower it some and have a new seat on the way already. (lower) Seems like A nice bike (I only test rode it and then tore it down) and I am waiting for the title on the bike as the guy messed it up so I had him get a replacement and I have parts on order. Here is a pic, |

That's a really nice machine, and it would be near the top of my list. Was it a dual sport from the factory, or was it converted?

That's a factory D/S.
VERY nice bike and a VERY remarkable price! I'd say about an easy $1,000 less than market! Good job!

Yes it was a VERY low price for the northeast. they are running 4500 here otherwise. The guy did a tail tuck to it, and I am swapping it back to stock. otherwise it is not modified. (which is also hard to find. )
I am rather happy with it. LOL.. I have a spare set of wheel assys on order that I will run street oriented tires on and keep the new DOT knobbies on the stock set. (I will be using it to commute with and would wear out the Knobs in a month.) Plus the knobs are squirrely on the street , I have run knobbies on road before and they where much better than these Michelins. I will be running some Dual sport runs and maybe some turkey runs so want the knobs. Being able to swap back and forth is the best of both worlds. And with the money I saved on the purchase I figured I could afford it. |

I run Dunlop 606's on my KLX and they are a good 90% off/10% on road tire. Even so they are OK on the street. Indeed I rode it to work this morning, including a short freeway section.
They seem to wear OK, are very good offroad, but they are expensive. ![]()

I'll get more pics once It has all the new parts a fresh plastic on it. the PO dropped it and the plastic was scratched to heck. Fenders are cheap, I am still trying to find some decals I like. (OEM are$$$) Got the forks done today just have to remount, and Finish the service (fresh coolant, Airfilter cleaning and plug, and I will wait for the oil change as it is a fresh fill. ) I am also greasing the linkage while I have it apart to adjust the hight .

Very nice. I have been keeping my eye out for the 250X, but as stated they are hard to find and priced around $4500. I think the 250x would be the perfect bike, a bit more power than my XF, but still great gas mileage, light weight, and tons of fun. The street tires on the 250R should make it handle quite well!

I rode a 250X and owner 2 Q's.
The 250X has an EASY 50% more power than the Q, and weighs 40-50 lbs less. It's a substantial difference. :P

Yea the power between my 200 Lifan engine and the WR is Minibike and MX.
Really huge difference. (and I didn't red line the Wr either. ) I will be keeping the XL175/200 as an advertising pice for my biz and with hopes of getting some work from it. (bring it to swap meets etc) and I have a riding buddy who is bikeless so it will work out. |

Got it on the road yesterday, Overall very impressed with it and really nice power and pull. Talk about SMOOTH! man. I still have some body parts coming and a new(old school ) decal set in the shop waiting for it. (the plastic will be the 2010 WR250X White and then I will put this onto it.
![]() (with my 21" and 18" wheels of course. and I ordered a spare set of rims from Warp 9 for my street tires. (21 and 18 also) [/url] |

I really like the white red and black Yamaha graphics. The European version of my 1998 YZ400F used those colors.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the bike! We would love to see some photographs of your WR250R in its native habitat.
