The Possible Origins of the "Venom x22 250R"
Hello, guys.
This is my first time posting here, been peeking in for about a month now as I'm about to buy a venom x22 250r. I have done a lot of digging before making any final decisions as far as which bike, company, engine size etc... I will be choosing. I have found myself ultimately going with the Venom x22 250R. However I really wanted to try and get to the origins of this bike as it seems to be one of the more popular and common bikes to see as far as affordable china motorcycles goes. The real model name of this bike is the DF250RTS. This is a Dong Fang Motor Group and Honda China business venture from what I understand. If you look up honda china it explains this in good detail. This also explains why on venoms page it says the 250r features "A 5 speed CBR 250cc 4-Stroke Engine". Which would make sense considering the partnership between dong fang and honda would allow for that. I can't be entirely sure but the engine does appear to be literally an unbranded honda cbr 250r engine, manufactured in the honda plant in china. The rest of the bike would have parts made from dong fang such as frame, farings, calipers etc... so essencially its a honda cbr 250r engine with the rest of the bike being entry level dong fang parts. To be clear this bike is 100% a chinese motorcycle, but keep in mind it is from what I can tell, at least partially made by honda itself, alongside dong fang. If this is in fact the case that would elevate the quality of this bike significantly higher than that of any other generic chinese makes and models which is what really cemented my choice in buying this model. At the end of the day I can't be absolute with my claims but from what I've been able to gather this seems to be the possible and or partial origins of this specific model of motorcycle. Anyways I hope this is helpful in some way, I will be posting again once I order my bike next week and when it arrives as well. Have a good one fellow china riders! ![]() |

Welcome aboard! I recently purchased the Venom X22R 250. I find this all very interesting. I also found that the CRF230F share a good bit of engine parts as well. I have some future performance mods using CRF230F engine performance parts.
FYI. When you go to purchase the bike use the discount code JERRYHAWK250 and get $50 OFF just for being a chinariders member. ![]()

Wait is it a CBR250R engine as the OP says or a CRF230F engine as mentioned by Jerry Hawk? These are very different engines.

I just noticed this in the attachment you posted. The DF250RTS is manufactured by Dongfang Motor INC and not Dongfeng Motor Group. Completely different company. As others have stated the cbr 250r engine is a completely different engine. The earlier 2V CRF230f and CRF150F are a closer match.
