Tried the Mobil 1 20w50 and the Castrol 20w50 "V-Twin" versions a while back... for the price per quart and the feel of shifting... I went back to Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic after the experiment

Being a big believer in Synth oils, it's all I was running, even at the expense.
It was ok, nothing noticeable other than I experienced more clutch chatter with it, especially when I was really taxing them. I switched all my CB's back to Rotella 15/40. Better clutch results. In our big bikes (1650cc), they LOVE the synth. Much quieter mechanically, far easier neutrals. The CB's, not so much. For some reason, they liked the cheap stuff better. Fine with me! ;-)

I tried Mobil 1 V Twin 20W50 in a couple of my other bikes and it was the worst shifting oil that I've ever used. I haven't found anything that gives me the performance that I get with the Rotella 15W40 so that's all I run.

My wife grabbed a gallon of Rotella 15w40 synthetic blend by accident. Has anyone tried that to see if it causes the clutch chatter that the full synthetic Rotella caused? I didn't even know they made a blended rotella.

Regarding clutch chatter, CG motor clutches have a tendency to make a little noise and chatter sometimes regardless of what oil you use. I just found it "more" with the 20w-50 synth. Main thing is the clutch is definitely durable and will take a TON of abuse. After what I've put my Rhino through, I have full faith in the strength of the clutch.
