whirring noise

I was riding bike today and it suddenly made a whirring noise and just ran funny for lil bit any ideas. I'm also gonna check valves tomorrow as I've noticed a bit of noise from them is .008 the correct clearance for them. The bike starts and revs up fine in neutral

Could be the cam chain.

First, though, I'd take off the LH cover to see the magneto assembly and if it's OK, then I'd check the cam chain tensioner.

Its a push rod motor and checked valves they were both where I set em at .008 but can still here them I saw at hooper imports there engine has valve clearance at .005 for intake and .006 for exhaust that's for the 163fml-2 (btw what's the difference between the 163fml and 163fml-2)

I've never heard any valves making a whirring noise. Ticking yes, but that's it.

Looks like I'm gonna have to take valve cover off again. I'm gonna rig up a dummy light to starter and mount it to handle bars so if it does it and light goes on I at least know what it is if it doesn't go on ill be back and see if anyone else has any ideas.
