New guy from Maine

Hey gang,
Just acquired a 2006 Hitong Falcon 50cc scooter from a buddy of mine. It hasn't been ridden for at least 2 years and needs a bit of work. He basically gave it to me so I figured it'd be worth tinkering on a bit and if it works out, then I have a fun little scooter to run to the corner store on.

My buddy said he rode it in 2013 but that it would run down the road for 10 minutes or so then stall out. It would start right back up, but would have to let it idle for a few minutes before you could start going again. The starter seems to be dead, as it just spins and isn't catching and of course the kick start is missing so I can't fire it up that way. I have a kick start arm on order and I'm working on pulling the carb apart...I may just end up ordering a whole new one. My friend said he paid a shop to clean up the bike when he bought it but that he didn't think they did a real great job.

Looking forward to this little project, but after reading this forum I'm now wanting to pick up a nice dual sport!

Sounds like it is running out of fuel. Caused by possible clogged fuel filter.

Welcome!

Please feel free to start a new thread in the scooter section, and we can help diagnose the trouble.

You clearly need to have both a scooter and a dual sport.

That is what I'm thinking as well. I'm working on pulling the carb apart too since its been sitting for so long. I'm sure there is gunk in there!

Thanks! I'll definitely start a new thread in the scooter area if I'm still having troubles after I get the carb cleaned up and the filter replaced. I like your thinking on having both the scooter and the dual sport!

Welcome; we are glad you joined us.

Indeed, you definitely need a dual sport bike as well as a scooter.
