Venom X22R 250 Sprocket and Chain Replacement
Well Saturday morning i replace the chain and sprocket since i couldn't ride because of the rain. I discovered a few things along the way that i wished i would of caught before i ordered the new sprocket. First there is a metal ring that is installed on the hub as a spacer for the sprocket. I think this was there fix for a generic sprocket to fit the hub. It works but not the best solution. My thoughts are if i remove that ring spacer and order a sprocket sized for the hub I probably could install the sprocket without having to mill the sprocket for the ring that was installed with the factory sprocket. Second ,the 36 tooth sprocket is the smallest sprocket that should be installed on this bike. Although the 34 tooth worked, you will see in the video the problems it caused.
A word of caution. If anyone is planning on ordering a sprocket from PBI, make sure you verify all the dimensions on your particular bike as these may very from bike to bike.

Update on the new sprocket. We finally got some great weather here after months of rain, storms and hurricanes. I took the bike out Saturday and Sunday. I put just over 100 miles over the weekend. I think i like the 36 tooth better. It has more lower end pick up which is great for city and back road riding and still not screaming at 70mph. Bike sure gets there a lot quicker. I did get on the interstate and with the 36 tooth i topped out at 85mph at about 8200 rpm's which is about 400 rpm's more than i was turning with the 34 tooth sprocket at the same speed. As i mentioned before, I'm not worried about top speed but I'm sure i could of hit right at 90 with the 34 tooth. I wanted to have the bike geared so i could get on the interstate and cruise between 70 and 75 mph without the engine screaming at me. I've though about putting a 18 tooth on the front but after riding this weekend and to work this week I happy with the 17/36 tooth combo.
