Just ANOTHER carb, jet, bike running poor thread----SORRY

Here we go again, sorry to bore you (yawn)........I've read all the threads I can find on it but here goes anyway:

07 Shineray Allroad 200
pushrod engine, 300 miles
UNI pod filter
needle all the way up (rich position)
drilled exhaust (4, 5/16" holes at exit)
Good pickup, running about 95% throttle (no tach) to get 55mph

THEN:
-replaced a 49 rear with the 46, front is 17

AND
-Stock 98 jet drilled to 106...too rich! Missing at WOT, very perky everywhere else

SO: 106 replaced with a 102, still rich! Fouled the stock plug with black soot while warming up the engine at idle while cleaning up tools. (BTW, the new jet is 4mm tall, the old jet was 3mm tall)

replaced the plug with a Autolite 4164 today and still rich a mid-throttle, lacks response, smells rich, Missed a little at WOT but not as bad as the 106.

Move the needle down?

put in a 98 jet?

Autolite plug?

Any qualified opinions? What works for you?

BTW, This forum ROCKS!

Well mine now has a K&N RC-1120 filter and a cheap(low quality not inexpensive) after market XR200 exhaust on it and the jetting went from a stock 98 to a 115 and it runs pretty good on that and I'm at about 900 foot elevation.
Sorry I cant remember the clip position right now.

I think with the drilling of the stock exhaust there is a lot of difference in the outcomes as I doubt everyone drills their exhaust the same as everyone else but I know the exhaust I put on mine is just a straight shot thru with the wadding wrapped around the inner holed tube and a spark arrestor screen.(I could easily look right thru it)

Try a Denso IX 24 iridium spark plug, I found a slight better burn over the china plug. Found a good price @ www.bikebandit.com

I'd leave the 106 main. Drop needle back to middle position, fuel screw out 1 turn. That should be close.

on the road again.....

Thanks guys! I moved the clip to the middle slot and it's close with the 102. Maybe a little too lean! I may try the second slot tomorrow and just leave the 102 in. Right now, I'm just happy that it "on the road again".......

if it is lean then when you shift the throttle it will have a lean pop to it. it is a slight pop not a full on back fire. also check the plug it will never lie.
