Several of us have tried 'race' CDI's and were pleased with the results.

Don't know. No one's ever dyno'ed a 'before and after'. Some people say a tiny bit more power, and a higher redline.

I think it provides a slightly more aggressive ignition advance, which unleashes a (little) bit more power. I'm certainly not disappointed with the unit I installed on my ATV, especially since TurboT paid for it.

My opinion is they are a little of both of the above...haha. Never actually used one, but as stated above, a "little" bit more power, and a higher redline. All my CB experience indicates plenty of available "redline" w/ the stock CDI. Perhaps I am lazy, but have accepted these little 200's for what they are, and haven't bothered seeking more power, I just try and keep em running in good tune.

Should one consider the long term reliability of running advanced timing and higher redline? I always thought of "racing" and long term reliability as being contradictory. :?

Hi

I fitted something similar to my 200cc Lifan. It gave a 12% improvement on time to cover a standing 0.5km and improved 'rideability' - less hesitation cleaner running. Still on my bike and I like it - more for the better rideability rather than the improved acceleration as I rarely thrash the bike hard enough to notice that difference.
