Bye KLX250S-Hello XR400R
Have not posted on here for a bit. Hope everyone is doing well.
Well, I sold my KLX250S today and made $800 over what I paid for it! I was able to find a Honda XR400R in really amazing condition with every mod I think I would want already done...including all guards! The guy I got it from bought it a few years ago in like new condition from a widow of a Honda dealer who did everything to the bike. I am excited! ![]() ![]() |

I think that's the perfect DS bike.

Couldn't have turned out better.
Although I love the KLX I'd have hard time NOT selling it for an $800 profit! That is about the CLEANEST XR400 I've ever seen and it's already plated! It is one of the best D/S bikes made, and will last as long as a granite cliff. Looking forward to a ride report!

Weld/Doc,
Thanks for the nice compliments. I did a lot of reading because I knew I could profit on my KLX and was going to sell it. I really wanted a DRZ400S, but I read a ton on the XR400R and read nothing but good things. I liked my magic button on the KLX, but to be honest, This thing starts first kick! I like the simplicity too. I ordered a Moose Racing rear rack for it today too. I can not wait to get it on the trails! I'll get a ride report when I get it to the trails! Happy riding! ![]() |

I'm pretty sure the Honda XR400 was never produced as a dualsport. It's a great bike though and easily plated in many states. Came close to getting a couple of them myself over the years. I really like the fact that it's oil-cooled. Honda reliability also means a lot.
There's a kickstarter kit available for the KLX. If I keep mine, I'll add the kickstarter to it. SamM

You are right, it was never produced as a dual sport. This bike was converted using the Baja Designs kit and is in pristine condition. I had never had a kick start only bike before this. I had read how easily they start on line, and after buying it, it is true! This is way more of a thumper than my KLX. Don't get me wrong, I loved the KLX (mine was an 07), but I really wanted a bike in the 400cc range, and specifically a DRZ400S, but this popped up right as I sold my KLX and things fell into place in the same day! So, now I am the proud owner of this bike. |

Congratulations, Tim! That's the best looking XR400R I have ever seen!

Great looking bike!
I've got a drz, and as much as I love it I would rather take an xr400 out on the trails any day of the week! You've made a good choice there! ![]()
