Inner tube question??
Does the rim width need to be taken into consideration when ordering a new tube, or should I just go with one that matches the tire size?
I plan on going with a 4.60-17 rear tire on my TBR7. I would also appreciate any advice on tubes to buy, OR avoid. Thanks Last edited by JerryHawk250; 06-28-2023 at 11:09 AM. |

Yeah, get brand name tubes, i.e. not Chinese. Standard thickness is 1mm, but you can get 2mm and 3mm thicknesses too.
Michelin, IRC, Kenda, Tusk are all good brands. Here's a useful page that explains inch vs metric tire widths: https://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/blogs...mparison-chart

Would this be a good choice for the 4.60-17 Dunlop D605 that I am going to put on my TBR7?

I think this is the size he needs. A 110 is too narrow. That tube is for something like a Honda CT90 etc. The stats on that 110 Amazon page list it as for a 29" wheel! Unreliable.
https://www.amazon.com/Michelin-Inne...8039154&sr=8-2 Edit: Now granted, 4.60" is 116mm, so not much difference. Maybe the 110 tube will work fine, but I'd rather get one listed specifically for the wider tire. And don't forget to get a good rim strip to replace that Chinese one.

Rim strips are pretty universal width-wise. Just need to get one for your wheel diameter.

Them Go-Rilla products sure are versitile . The Go-Rilla tape can be used as a rim strip, and the Go-Rilla glue evidently makes a fine hair gel. LOL
