I remember seeing a base with a removable trunk someone had installed on their bike.

I bought a 100 Liter bag on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/WILD-HEART-Wa..._dp&th=1&psc=1
I strap the bag to my rear rack. https://cscmotorcycles.com/rear-rack-aluminum-tt250/ I rode through a couple heavy rainstorms and all my gear stayed dry. It's easy to roll and collapse. When filled, it acts as a nice lower back support!!

20L Tail bag, and I just got the CSC rear rack plate, but it fit fine without it. Perfect size to fit shoes, a hoodie, lunch, and a few odds and ends for work commutes. Surprisingly good quality for it's price, but still not as good as some of the better known brands. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
60L Saddle bags (with other camping gear on top). Quite good actually, they've gotten me on numerous camping trips and spent many days down dirt roads. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1 Tank bag. This is actually a leg bag, which at first I thought might be handy on longer trips, but as it turns out it fits the tank quite nicely. It needs some "manual" adjustment to keep it snug, but I love it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

I've had good luck with this one https://www.amazon.com/Emgo-72-32440...e%2C583&sr=1-7
I did break one base/mount once crossing a drainage on a gravel road similar to a big whoop. I was standing and shifted my weight back a little too far and fast which broke the trunk free with my rear. To my delight the trunk was only scuffed which wasn't bad since I was going about 40 at the time. For mostly road or non-technical rides I'll run aluminum panniers and soft panniers for off-road or more technical rides. Both sets of my panniers are now out of production so no links. |
