$20,000 E-Vehicle available
Sort of...
It is the Arcimoto 3 wheel EV, made in Oregon. Arcimoto calls it a Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV). It comes with a roof. Doors are optional. It is being delivered to customers as we speak. More at the link. -I could totally do my current commute in the Arcimoto. I currently commute by motor scooter on nice days but the Arcimoto be used on days with light rain. -The similar Electra Meccanica Solo went on sale in Brittish Columbia last year. It provides more weather protection than the Arcimoto, but has less passenger space. https://newatlas.com/urban-transport...uv-production/ https://www.arcimoto.com/vehicle/

I could see myself using something like that for a commute to work, but I wouldn't.
Why? Due to this being a 3 wheeled vehicle, in my state it would still require a motorcycle endorsement to ride. The only advantage it gives in terms of weather protection is a roof, and I am sure the doors add a few hundred or so to the cost, but would improve it. If I have to have an endorsement, and only gain some weather protection while losing the convenience of motorcycle parking and fun, I would spend my $20k on a Zero SR/F, Or get a Zero S/R with the zf14.4 battery and power pack, and safe a couple thousand. Just my personal preference. Still a neat little vehicle though. Too bad they don't have a sporty low slung one seater akin to a T-Rex.

Really depends on where you live. Some big cities and employers provide free premium parking to EVs, even in an oil town like Houston.
-the rain in the Pacific NW is usually light and steady, so the small roof would actually help there. Rain gear would still be needed. -Other than those situations, a scooter or small motor bike still looks like a better deal for the commute.

Quote:
Weather wise - our rain is rarely light and steady. This is the land of supercell thunderstorms. The great plains is a wide open wind tunnel where 30-50mph winds is a semi-regular occourance with an occasional "wind storm" seeing speeds approaching category 1 hurricanes - with no other bad weather in sight.

I'm just excited that these machines are finally being produced and sold. It gives me hope that the gas powered Elio trike will make it to market.
