Painting of a chrome exhaust
Hi guys,
Because of the bad weather in Belgium :? i am planning of painting both my chrome exhausts in mattblack. Would a couple of layers with Motip mattblack with high temp.resistancy do the job ? and will it be sufficient to grind the chrome a little bit before painting, or does the chrome needs to be removed completely ? Thanks in advance, Fred |

Hi Fred,
I'm not familiar with the paint you speak of, but if it is a high heat paint that is intended for exhaust pipes or outdoor cooking grills, it should be good. You will have a hard time removing chrome, but it should be ok to just sand the surface with sandpaper; I would use 120 grit, followed by 220. You may need to reapply the paint after a short time as the paint cures and begins to fade. Once you have a few coats of paint applied, it should last well.
