Shifter on my Brozz
Replaced my stock stripped out shifter. It never bolted up correctly since day one. I picked it up from Amazon, it was pricey. It bolts up nicely but It doesn’t stick out very far. I have to think about turning my foot inward to firmly grip the shifter. I’m gonna attempt to adjust the shifter outward as much as possible.

Other DIYers may have some advice around it... like heating the metal to get a controlled bend without any stress fractures etc.
I'm no expert, but I've watched enough Forged in Fire episodes to know heat and metal are good friends |

Perhaps you can extend the peg some how. Put a piece of pipe over it maby to make it longer. I would avoid heating and bending as you can create stress points with out doing proper annealing. Maby you can buy longer peg to go on it?

I moved the shifter outward on the shaft as much as possible last night.
I wouldn’t try heating it up and bending it. With my luck it would surely break! |

I looked at shifter in china and sent out a couple samples, the complaint was it’s in closer to the engine then stock which is what China bikes here have..,,
Hence I never listed the item as the feed back is like what you stated and not preferred etc.. |

I was out riding after adjusting the shifter. It’s got to go. I was wearing leather shoes and missed many shifts looking for and not fully connecting with the shifter. I have to side my foot forward on the peg in order to reach the shifter every time. I’ve been looking at riding boots and wondered if their bulk would make a difference? For now I pulled it off . Drilling out the stripped bolt and reinstalling the crappy stock shifter is looking good right now. Can anyone recommend a quality good shifter? I paid $30 bucks for the IMS that I will be returning. I shouldn’t have to mod it to make it work at that price point. It looks great and appears like a quality made unit.

Redneck Vice
I new that frame my Brozz was shipped in would come in handy. I needed something to hold the shifter while i drilled it out.
I lined up the shifter to show you guys the differences. A little more drill time and the stock shifter is back on. It actually tightened up onto the shaft using a thru nut and bolt. Last edited by Spins; 02-15-2020 at 12:51 PM. |
