Rim / tire question for hawk 250

Would I need different rims or would I be able to use the factory hawk rims?

Yes on the front is a 90/90-21 tire in other words tall and skinny that would be like putting two back tires on. I have the same ones on mine there a lot better for blacktop then the stock tires.

Did you buy both or just the rear? The link you posted is just the rear tire. You can use the same rims with the 120/80-18 and 90/90-21.

I don't think that is what you meant to say since one uses an 18" rim and one uses a 21" rim

Sorry let me be a little more clear. I'm looking around for street tires that would fit both rear and front rims of my hawk 250. I know I posted only the rear tire link but that is the only one I have found so far. I don't know that much about dirt bike tires (or any tires for that matter) and sizes so any help is welcome. So any links to good street tires both front and back that would fit the rps hawk 250 please feel free to post them. I believe i would need new inner tubes as well so I wouldn't mind a link to that as well. Thank you everyone for your help as I said I have a lot to learn lol.

I would not recommend the Shinko 705 for your rear tire. The size 120/80-18 tire is designed for a size 2.75 rim, which is much wider than your rear rim.

I recommend the following tires for your motorcycle. You should be able to use your current inner tubes with these tires.

Shinko 244

Front tire: size 3.00-21
Rear tire: size 4.60-18

Shinko 700

Front tire: size 3.00-21
Rear tire: size 4.60-18

Will the Shinko 244 4.60-18 clear the chain on the Hawk? I see the stock knobby is very close.

I don't own a Hawk motorcycle, so I can't be sure. However, I would be surprised if the size 4.60-18, Shinko 244 tire did not clear the drive chain on the Hawk.

I would highly suggest just to buy a pair of shinkos. However, you could also do the ninja rim swap modification (Please follow my threads or message me, and i will make sure to help you out with this one ).

spud, just as a heads up I have 2000 miles on my set of shinkos on my bike, with a 110/80-16 on a 2.1" front and a 130/80-16 on the 2.35 rear with no problems.... is it ideal? probably not.... but it hasn't caused me any trouble either.

That's good; I'm glad you are enjoying your tires, and they are working well for you.

I do encourage you to regularly inspect the inner tubes for wear caused by friction/rubbing with the sidewalls of the tire. If you notice any thinning/blemishes on the inner tubes, replace the inner tubes before you get a flat tire, which usually occurs at the most inconvenient time.
