Building the shark
Well my shark arrived yesterday and I put it together today. It was assembled just like a hawk or brozz . attach the plastics attach the front tire rear shock and Head light.
I warmed it up and changed the oil. I purchased the orange and white one and I really like the look. From what I can tell the big difference between the shark and brozz is a gas gauge and USD forks. Its fairly peppy out of the box,I will get the sprocket tooth count tomorrow as well as post some pics. |

Photos?!
If the Brozz sells out this week or next, these will be the replacement. When the Bashan Storm was the big selling bike a year and a half or so, once those sold out, several members ended up ordering the Blaze or the Will. They were okay with their purchases (Merlin got ripped off on his wheels which were defective from the get go), but it wasn't 'THE STORM!' At least with the Shark, the only 'compromise' you are making (compared to the Brozz) is the forks, unless you were really and truly holding out for a gas gauge!

I thought is was the hub. The spokes were too skinny to fit the hubs, and pulled through the holes in the hub, and making the hub un-useable. At the time I thought is was a good reason to not buy one of those bikes, along with bad frame welds....ARH

Yes, Merlin had a defective rear wheel which was NEVER resolved by Superior; he bought wheels off of Taobao which he is very pleased with. He is now actually enjoying his bike!

It looks better here than in all the stock photos I have seen of it! On the stock photo, it always seemed like the red-headed stepchild of the Brozz. Here, you can really see it, and it looks good. For those who might miss the Brozz train, this won't be a bad alternative at all, considering it has the same engine, and everything else minus the USD forks (and fuel gauge?)!!

Yup no fuel gauge, looking at the wiring harness when I plugged the head light in I did find the wiring for it but I'll need to see if its connected to the tank if so I'll probably order a cluster from mj if I decide I just have to have a fuel gauge. Ill find out when i take the tank off to do the valves.I also have to say I'm very happy with powersportsmax so far ,once I get my mso I'll give my final verdict on them.

I got used to the lack of a fuel gauge on my TMEC. However, I rarely, if really ever, rode it other than commuting. Even when the speedo/odo broke, I knew it was 33 miles a day. 3 gallon tank, fuel mileage plummeted at WOT, so I knew I was getting 45 to 50 mpg, so every 3 days, filled it up. I think I tried pushing it to 4 days and got partially stranded, but had to shake the bike and lay it waaaay over to get the gas out of reserve, and started it up and got to the nearest gas station.

I think that I like this version better than the others. It seems that the lines flow better with this color scheme. Here's the Honda it's based on. Pretty dang close.

That Honda is the Tornado, I believe, and made in Brazil if memory serves me. I remember one guy traveling all through Mexico, South, and Central America, from Canada was asking on horizonsunlimited trying to find storage in Mexico for his Tornado because he was going back to Canada and couldn't find a buyer. He had spent $5k (US dollars--maybe Canadian?) so did not want to 'lose' his bike. Had he bought one of the Bashan bikes in the US, he would have had the perfect 'ride and dump' bike, which Wolftrax planned to do with his Hawk months ago (ride to Argentina, sell or dump [part out] his bike, and fly back). Maybe I shouldn't move back to California--I could have a side business here on the southern US border selling sturdy Chinese bikes to adventure tourists (not that far out--there is one guy on Horizonsunlimited in Peru inviting people to fly in and he will help arrange for them to buy a Chinese enduro bike--around $2k is the going rate)...

Oh, and for those new to here and not aware, the Shark's stablemate, the Brozz is copied and named after the Honda NXR Bros
