Sunl sla 400 s
Just picked this thing up. Bought t from an older couple. I have the original receipt ($4,250)! I paid $1,100. Runs, but very rough. Carb seems to be out of tune, and leaks fuel pretty bad. Is it best to replace rather than try to rebuild? How in the heck do I locate parts for this thing? Also push button 4x4 doesn't seem to engage.
Any insight is helpful |

Very cool. Always amazed at what people find.
It will not run correctly without the air cleaner. So get/attach an air filter before attempting any carb adjustments. It requires the air restriction of the filter to run properly. Where is the gas leaking from? / |

I have removed it to gain access to visually inspect the carb. It's there, just not installed in the pic.
Thanks though. |

Measures it. Once u know what's what, parts can get from elsewhere...
http://www.kinzo.net/ still in biz, why not ask the sample rate if wants 100% as stock...

The push button for 4x4 could just be some corrosion in the switch... spray it with some good cleaner. You can probably jump it to see if it engages to know for sure.
I'm sure there is a carb out there that will work with it, but would probably be easier to get that one working. A full clean out is probably in order. It's the stock carb I assume... aftermarket would probably give it some more pep. Once you have the old one out to clean it.. take lots of pics and measurements. Intake and manifold setup.. bolt positions etc which will come in handy to find a suitable replacement. If you are unsure what the adjustment screws are on the carb don't mess with them. |

A second look at the carb.... it seems like its mounted upside down. Hoping its just the picture that is upside down but the float bowl shouldn't be on the top.
An aftermarket Mikuni or Mikuni clone should work if you can find the right one. The fuel leaks are from rotted lines, and most likely plugged the jets. Be sure to get rid of the gas that was in the tank too. |

Welcome to the Chinese ATV world. Darth has you pointed in the right direction on a good carb cleaning/rebuild. The set screw you asked about is for setting the idle if it is the same as my Yamaha Grizzly. Your ATV looks a lot like a knock off Grizz.

Thought it looked familiar... It is a sharp looking ATV... not so Chinese looking. I wish I had that backup pull starter on my Rhino.

What would this be? Found it just dangling under the right side of fuel tank.
TIA BTW- getting the breather tube connector back on is worse than water torture! |

Knowing what the hoses that are connected run to helps in identifying the part. Oil system, coolant system, fuel system, vacuuum etc.
I did find a site with some yamaha grizzly service manuals that you can download ... it might help you some with this refurb job. https://www.manualslib.com/brand/yam...d-vehicle.html |

carb
hello.... there is a lot of these carbs on ebay... 400 cc ... fits Yamaha 400... same as the grizzey.. and many other Chinese atv... jianshe.. panterra... hensim and others... the pic of the cable with screw,,, is to hand adjust your carb throttle speed .... easier that way... the plastic value your showing I am sure it is an air flrter for the blow by from your motor to let it breather.... if you did not have this breather and it was plugged you would blow your engine seals... EPA thing... for it not running... I do not think you need a restriction for it to run.... maybe the air screw is out of adjustment.. turn it in all the way.... then as a rule( and it not a real rule) turn it out about 1- 1 1/2 turns... see if it will run... and go from there..... or restrict it as you say... then turn it in and see if it keeps running.. good luck... nice atv
