Grrr, wrong bulb
so I ordered some bulbs from the parts topic from denis kirk.com, well its the wrong bulb for my shineray speede.
the speede uses a halogen bulb, its long and skinny and there is only one notch as opposed to the two notches in the new bulbs. the base at the very bottom is the same though, two contacts next to each other |

this actually might be it, the base is the same, as is the circular disk that is on this bulb. On mine there is only one notch |

For $30!! Did you try the other BA20D type bulbs in the housing and they absolutely would not fit? If I could find one of the $4 bulbs that worked I would go that route. I've found the original type bulbs last about 3-5k miles before one filament is blown.

absolutely would not fit, the base is completely different, compare pics. the bulbs I ordered wouldnt even fit in the hole, it was too wide and the bulb too big.
I bit the bullet and got the $30 light # XTREME WHITE PLUS Bulbs shine at 4,000 Kelvin color temperature # Closest in brightness to PIAA's High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights # 35/35W power consumption; 60/60W actual output hopefully it will be as bright as it says it is, if so that would be awesome |

Yeah man 60w will be bright for one of these bikes. I ride with the 45w now and it does pretty well. There was a guy on here some time back that retro-fitted a Crysler 300c headlight into the stock housing. Keep us posted on the bulb when you switch it out.

Those $4 bulbs work fine in the GY2, but may not fit others. I ordered them and they fit fine. Post them for sale in the sale section and someone will take them. I should buy them for some more spares.

Isnt this the bulb you are looking for http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H6M-S...QQcmdZViewItem ? I figured for $20, it was worth a try and you get 2. My wifes CT70 uses this bulb, my Viva uses a BA20d, and her Cheetah uses one similar to the H6.

yes, those look like it, the piaa bulb boasts a 60w output, so we will see about that. but thanks for the link, I could use some spares.
P.S - I ended up shipping the wrong bulbs back from my earlier post, sorry. |

USMC,
Thanks for the Halogen and the speedy shipping, works great... Does anyone know where to get a PIAA bulb with a BA20D base, If they make them I'd surely give it a try as any bulb other than stock has got to be an improvement???
