Tao Tao Boulder 110 air/fuel screw covered
Hi,
I have a new Tao Tao Boulder B1 I just got for my son. So far I've done some simple things to make it better (tightened tie rod ends, adjusted toe, replaced oil and fuel filter). It seem to stall more then it should, even with the idle sped up. It'll idle high, but at times slow, and sometimes stall. Starts right back up, but it's annoying. I figured I'de replace the OEM plug, but was wonder about the air/fuel mixture. Of course the screw has a plug and cover on it. Is this easily removed? At this point I figure it has 3 hours run time on it. I have it set for no more then half throttle (to slow my son down :-) )

Yes you can drill out the plug to gain access to the idle mixer. That's one of the first things i have done on all my china machines.

Is it as simple as a small hole through the plug, and pull it out with a punch? Or do I need to remove the carb?

you would be better off getting a cheap carb with air\fuel mix and accessible jets. stock carbs are garbage. $25 or so.

I ended up drilling the plug, and pulling it off. After some adjusting it's running and idling fine now. The AF ratio screw was pretty much seated from the start. I guess they don't really set anything from the factory...between this, and the front end it appears they slap these together without any care how it runs/rides
Probably why they get such a bad name.

They have to set them up like that for emissions purposes ,or you wouldn’t be able to buy one in North America .
