Upgrading questions about the X Pect?
I tried adding this to the end of a current thread but I'm not sure if anyone saw it.
I'm most likely going to be buying an X Pect in the near future. It might be tomorrow or it might be in a few weeks. But either way there are some upgrades I'm planning to make right off the bat. Below are some upgrades I've decided on just in reading through threads and watching youtube vids but then there's some I need help with. Please let me know your experience and suggestions. Do any handguards actually fit the X Pect without any modification needed??? Seems like every thread I read is saying you need to swap out the grips or chop them or .... Do ANY just fit?? So far here is my parts list for immediate upgrades... JT Sprockets JTF1264.17 17T Steel Front SprocketTusk Folding Shift Lever Black/Blue Tip For Honda TRX 400X Philips RacingVision H4 Headlight Bulb Still shopping for a high zinc break in oil, luggage rack, and either/both saddle bags and a top box....maybe an all in one unit. Any suggestions? When It comes to the gas tank and air guides....do people just delete these without issue or do they actually serve a purpose on the sides of the tank? Also, does the X Pect accept any larger gas tanks? I know some riders with dirt biking and dual sports will opt for a larger tank which could have it's uses. Thanks! I think what you're talking about on the sides of the tank are the air guides. Many bikes have these to scoop air and guide it toward the engine for cooling. I don't like the look of them so I took mine off. I've only ridden the bike for like 30 miles so I can't really say if it was a mistake, but I really feel like they are just cosmetic. A big powerful bike might need extra help staying cool, but this little 200 cc engine shouldn't need it.
That being said, I have noticed a lot of heat coming off the engine when I'm stopped in traffic so I may put them back on to see if it makes a difference. |

Having just bought one of these over the winter and finally able to ride it, I have a lot of the same questions about finding accessories too. For what it's worth, here's at least a good place to order replacement parts when the time comes: https://kpclubusa.com/collections/x-pect
I'd love it if there were a similar site/page with standard add-ons! |

The parts I listed seem like what everyone gets and seem to work well. But when it comes to the luggage/rack and handguards...not so much. And if I'm being honest, I can figure out the luggage. The handguards are another story. Haven't seen a reply or vid yet that show excellent quality and perfect fit. Thanks Acerbis Bark Busters......just saw a vid where a guy showed adding them to his X Pect. Didn't mention any modding that was required. Can anyone comment on these? |

Have you seen the Xpect Backroad Development thread at the top of the Dual sport forum? That may answer some of your present and future questions.

No, it's just a good general resource for Xpects that everyone should know about.

Those are the bags I got. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06X9...b_b_asin_title That’s the top box. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07DW...b_b_asin_title And those are the guards/bark busters I got. Note: I didn’t fit the bark busters yet. They are part of the upcoming refit/scheduled maintenance Bike has a theoretical 260 mile range at 100mpg. Lower in deep sand or whatever of course. I’d like a bigger tank too for some unknown reason. 260 miles is decent. But still. Air guides on side of tank. I left them because they do funnel more air through the engine area. My old 250R 3 wheeler had them too, to force air through the radiator. They are also nice to squeeze with your knees to get good control of the bike. Tank seems a little narrow by itself for that.

If you need extra fuel capacity there is always this kind of option.
