Mono Shock adjustment

Is the rear shock on these bikes adjustable at all? Mine seems a bit 'soft' (or I'm a bit soft 8) ) Anyway, thx!

Hi

yes it is - or at least mine was. Mine adjusted for spring preload via a threaded collar at the bottom of the shock.
BUT when adjusted to take my weights the damping was non-existent - all spring and no damping. My answer was an early CBR600 shock............ other have fitted others shocks.

Hmmm, I've been wondering about this myself. Which model bike do you have Frog?

ya, I got 'under' it today and I saw that there was a spanner collar at the bottom of the shock, but usually they are set preloaded so I didn't want to screw with it until I heard from someone. What year CBR did that shock come from?

My license plate frame thingy broke off my bike today. I'm just glad I was on a country road with no traffic so I could get it back without risk to my person .

Thx a ton fellas!

Hi

I have a Lifan gy5.

Shock was from (I think) a 1991 CBR600 - the one without a remote reservoir (although I guess they may fit also) it is made by SHOWA. It is 12mm longer than standard but that is not a problem to me.
NB the bolt holes on the CBR shock are 10mm - if your bolts are 12mm you will need to weld thick 10mm washers to the frame mounts and get a couple of decent 10mm bolts.

I like my shock but note that others have had some success with the yam R1 shock.
