Tough to shift for a 8 yr old
I just bought my son a Hensum 125cc ATV. Its R-N-1-2-3 (gears) he can't shift it with his foot.
Is there a way to make the shifting easier? Its pretty tough, Its harder then my 350cc warrior. Dave

hard shifting
this is the same shift pattern as used on many atvs.. make sure he is wearing proper shoes.. I know from assemblying them .. flip flops or those DOG shoes sure makes it hard to shift.. a good running shoe or harder shoes make it easier... other than that .. it should shift like all the rest.. make sure the throttle is not reving up too high for starting off shifting.. it needs to be at a low RPM to engage .. but once going it should be normal

I really like synthetic four stroke oil for making shifting easier. If it's not too hot out, you could try 10W40, but 20W50 is better in the heat.
