Mt Clemands ride/hunting

Well I live on the east side of Mt Clemands across from Naches WA, our ranch community owns the property that borders state land and we have a limited access gate a 1/2 mile from my house. Today was opening day for archery deer so I loaded up the pack and double checked the bike! I took off at about 5 this morning negotiating some rough terrain with limited headlight visibility. A Zong in stock configuration would not be able to perform on the trails I rode today. No luck on deer so I'll call it an armed motorcycle ride!!! The only problem I had was the front suspension, this winter I'll need to upgrade the fork springs in some way to accommodate the abuse! I have been riding dirt bikes for 20 years and I ride this zong just as hard as any other bike I've owned. Overall I am very happy with the results of this little 200.

Strange weather yesterday, huh? Some 'Global Warming'!

Don't worry about the deer, he'll be bigger when you shoot him during rifle season!

Thanks for posting the great photos; your Zong looks very nice.

You did a fine job lacing the 18-inch, and 21-inch wheels, and your paint job looks great.

Used to do a bit of archery, prefer stick bows, though. Good luck.

For Bambi I'm a Winchester 94 .30-'30 guy myself. No stinking scope.

IMHO leverguns look like ass scoped. 8)

I do have to wonder something while looking at these great photos of the Zong in action:

If you were to have run across "Bambi" in the woods, and were to murder her with your arrow, how would you have go her out of the woods with just you and the bike? Now THAT would be some riding skill. 8)

I'm just assuming, but perhaps wrong, you had a team with you with big quads or something..

I bought a yamaha xt200 that the PO had made a large rear rack just for that purpose.

Ever see or hear of a Rocon? Its a 2wd motorcycle. Kinda a cross between a John Deere and a donkey. They have an optional flat sidecar to carry game out of the woods!

TurboT - No I was alone... The area I was in is only a few miles from my house. The pack I had with me was empty, I can ride with the pack on and strap an additional quarter to the rack... two trips is all it would take for an average mule deer. Now, In a couple weeks during Elk season, it might be a different story, maybe 4 trips! The other plan is to drag the deer to a green dot road/legal road and have my wife meet me at the grid I send her! She was on standby all day!
