17 Tooth sprocket

Hey new here. I just bought a 2021 Tbr7. I am doing all the upgrades listed on here and on YouTube. (Mo power baby). Anyway bought the 17 tooth sprocket out it on with ease, but when I try to put the sprocket cover back on it doesn’t fit. Do I have to cut the back side of the cover? I’ve never seen anyone talk about it on here. The sprocket has 428-17 T stamped on it and my chain is a 428 and rear sprocket as well
