Here is a link on clutch adjustment. After you have it set up, see if you can use the adjuster at the lever to take out the slack and see if it will improve the clutch release.

THe one thing it doesn't really say is how far forward should the adjustment make the engine case lever? Just to the point of resistance met or further or some slack at the arm?
