Welcome to the forum and thanks for the picture.

Where are you located and what's the 'L'?

Nice looking bike! I'm assuming the UK as you can ride 50-125cc bikes without a full bike or car licence on "L" plates (learner I assume) just require a cbt (compulsory basic training course) which is very simple 4-6 hr course that pretty much can't be failed! It's not a test as such just training. Could be wrong of course

Spot on

I live in Lincoln, UK ( thats about half way up the east coast and 40 miles inland ) and yes the "L" plates mean Learner.
The bike is brand spanking new, costing £1500 otr and comes with a 1 year warranty.
It makes 12bhp , 11nm torque and will top out at about 70mph... or rather it should do once its fully run in.. I'm riding like an old boy on a sunday afternoon at the minute but that will probably change once im settled in.

Hi, welcome to the site!!
I'm from uk also, I don't own a Chinese bike, but am in the process of fixing one up for a mate, and enjoying it so much that I'm now finding myself scanning eBay for a cheap 200cc+ Chinese enduro to play about with as a 2nd bike!

Don't go to easy when running in your engine. Although dealers and manuals always recommend staying at half throttle during the running in process, your rings will actually bed in better if you use the full throttle range when running it in. Don't sit there with the throttle wide open, but don't baby it either if you know what I mean

I know exactly what you mean - little bursts of full power for a few seconds to help everything grind together properly
I've been doing doing that today - found a curious hesitance in the acceleration at about 5k-7k rpm, almost like the engine is running too lean but it clears itself over 7k.... Wondering if its the fuel mixture or maybe the spark gap?
Otherwise the bike is a real good ride. Parked it next to a Yamaha YBR earlier today and felt a huge wave smugness as my Monster towered over the toy-like Yamaha...But the later on my smugness was cancelled out when a Triumph came bombing past putting me back in my proper place!

Welcome to these forums! We are glad you joined us.

That's a nice looking motorcycle. I found the following web links for the Zontes motorcycles.

http://www.zontes.com/HomePage/HomePage.aspx
http://www.zontes.com/Products/Products.aspx?Csort=181

The websites are published in typical "Chinglish," but the bikes look very nice.

Sweet bike! 8) I can't put my finger on that engine; it looks sorta Honda-like, but the valve cover isn't familiar. It looks to be counter-balanced, so it's probably really smooth. I bet you don't miss that Baotian!

Son of Weldangrind also had an L, but he only had to display it on the car, not the bike.

The engine is listed as a "ZT156FMI" - outwardly I havent seen anything else that resembles it but its performance is identical to a K156FMI-2 so i guess its a derivative of that. 8.4KW (11.7bhp), 11nM torque, 10 000rpm, 100mpg (imperial gallon of course )
I am really pleased with the bike so far but have taken the precaution of working out where the rust spots are likely to come and giving those areas a coat of black enamel for protection - I intend to keep this baby shiny for as long as possible
