140cc wiring help needed please.
Hi guys. Great forum from what I have read so far.
I'm having trouble wiring up a 140cc engine that I got second hand. The only thing stamped into it is 140cc and also the word Gongyu. The only thing that I could find out about it is that it's a yx engine. My problem is that I can't find the right wiring diagram that has the same wires as my engine. I have a green wire, a blue/white wire, a green/red wire, a red/black wire and a red/ white wire. The red/ white wire and the black/red wire were connected to a plastic plug but my bike has nothing to connect it to. I joined the green from the engine to the green on my cdi, also the blue/ white to blue white and the black/red to black/red. That leaves me the green/ red and the red/white not connected to anything. I read somewhere that someone hooked the red/ white wire into the blue/ white wire and they were able to get a very weak spark which I was also able to do. I still can't get it to kick over though. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Paul. |

Sorry BlackBike. I totally ment to but forgot as I was posting from my phone. Will do at the end of this post. Jeffery, I've had a quick look at the site, but didn't find anything that matched my wiring. I'll have to have a better look. Thanks humanbeing. I think this will help me out heaps. just going by colours is probably a bit risky, better check where they connect to and what they are supposed to do...previous owner could have rigged it up wrongly...or chinese factory...maybe you can find a diagram here
http://www.hooperimports.com/showpages.asp?pid=1013 - maybe read the bit at the bottom about the inconsistent colour codes! - write your setup down for future reference. - make sure you have good ground wires going to the frame!

- also: can you solder? once the setup is good, I would solder and shrinktube all connections which look like what your holding in your hand.

I couldn't find anything to help me on the site, zingshoen.
Following the wires makes perfect sense though. I certainly will be heat shrinking and soldering all connections once ( if I ever do) get it sorted out. |

Hi guys. Just a quick question? Would the cdi off a 125cc, work fine on a 140cc? When I purchased the 140cc second hand, it came with another 140cc, three 125cc engines and a heap of other parts. Included was a 6pin cdi and a 8 pin cdi. The wiring on the engine looks set up for the 6 pin ( or 5 pin if that's what they are called ). Thanks in advance, Paul.
