Apollo RFZ 125cc 17/14 to 19/16 wheels
Looking to upgrade to larger wheels on my RFZ. Anyone have the slightest idea where to start? Well, I know where to start, start by opening your wallet a little (or alot).
If I have to just buy rims and lace them to original hubs is fine, but what spokes fit. Looks like there are two different length spokes on the rims now, I do not know? Do I just buy ones that are 1" (25mm) longer with same taper? I've seen on aliexpress some for sale, but which ones? Are the hubs a generic design, or copy from another? I have search around and found that Apollo does make the "FREERIDE 150cc," which uses 19/16 wheels, but not in the USA. Appreciate any and all responses/help. Kirk ps. anyone know what plastics this bike copied from, KTM 65SX maybe? |

Did some more poking around and found SSR189 complete wheels for sale at @ $300. That's alot of money to be a guinea pig...I'll see if I can find some hub dimensions.

Having one heck of a time trying to find dimensions of hubs. I think the logical solution to this would be to send the hub and spokes to Buchanan Wheel/Spoke and buy new rims with the longer spokes to match. That's about $500 plus shipping...naw, might have to leave it the way it is.

I have to think if the axle size is the same then they'd fit. Pretty much all the horizontal engine pitbikes are interchangeable so if the axle size is 15mm then I'd say they'd fit but you might need to make/mod spacers. But you'll want to be sure the 19" front tire won't hit the head and that you can move your read axle back far enough to the 16" tire will clear the front of the swingarm.

Scrapped the idea, too much $$ to do it right. Anywho, my daughters have taken over this bike and told me it is not mine anymore. That's OK, I am being shipped, as of yesterday, an Orion RXB-250. That bike was a little cramped anyway.
Kirk ps. got to love country girls...my daughters have never ridden a manual clutch dirt bike before, and the first time on it they took off like they have been ridding for years! |
