Brian Mays at MOTOXtreme posted the following notice on his site on 8-8-08:

Quote:
WE WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE DURING THIS TIME

THE GY-5 DUAL PURPOSE BIKES, LF150 SCOOTERS, LF200-B AND LF250-B'S ARE OUT OF STOCK UNTIL TOWARDS THE END OF AUG. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES REGARDING STOCK LEVELS.
So it looks as if the lack of bikes available to American Lifan dealers has caused Brian at MOTOXtreme to close his doors for the time being.

From what I can piece together I would not be surprised if Brian's "THE END OF AUG." turns out to be an overly optimistic view of when new bikes will actually be available. A better guess might be mid September or later before American Lifan can start servicing their dealers again.

Pickings are that slim right now almost across the board when it comes to these popular smaller displacement dual purpose Chinese bikes, and for that matter when it comes to dual purpose Japanese bikes as well if someone wants to shell out the big bucks it takes to buy one of them.

Any 200cc to 250cc China bike you find still available at a dealer these days will be priced at a premium, much higher than it normally would or should be.

Take a deep breath and relax a bit, because recovering from the earthquakes and their impact on China is not an overnight process for any country to manage, not even ours as witnessed by the impact of Katrina not all that long ago on our own people and economy.

Brian still IS a solid dealer, and he will undoubtedly have MOTO Xtreme open for business again just as soon as Lifan China is able to supply new product to American Lifan in Dallas.
