It looks like a quality bike, but my exclamation was the price, its listed for 5995.00 NZD, thats freakin $4200 USD, a new 08' KLR650 may be had for about 100 bucks more.

I would buy it for $2000 USD, but not $4200. Wonder why its so expensive and what the US price would be listed as?

Hey Bex, You right, is does seem like a lot to pay but I did'nt pay that much - I got a really good deal from my mate Grant. Because I have bought my Shieray from him and had also sent a lot of business his way over the last year, he gave it to me for NZD3400 + on road costs.

The KLR650 is about NZD9,800 so I still think it's a good deal at USD4,200 for the Xingyue.

I have found good value in the Chinese bikes that I own.

My 9 year Son rides a 110cc China bike which we bought as a 1 year old and still goes well with very little done to it except general maintance.

I have ridden a Shineray 2006 XY200GYE for almost a year and put 15,000Km on it. These were hard Km's because they were mostly highway km's ridding at full throttle for two hours a day. This bike has now been past onto my Son to use in the new year.

The Xingyue does look and feel like a much better bike than my other Chinese bikes but only time will tell. I'm putting 120km a day on the new Xingyue so it will soon prove where or not it's worth it's money.

How does the Xingyue like highway travel? Can you back off on the throttle, now? What revs does it run at highway speeds? Have you regeared?

Thanks,

The Xingyue goes very well on the highway which was my main reason for getting it. Into head strong head winds, I can hold 110km/h which is great! The old Shineray would only do 95km/h into a head strong wind and if there was a hill, that could be 85 -90km/h.

I've changed out my main jet from a 136 to a 140 and changed my rear sprocket to a 40 tooth so that my rpm is much lower at topend. This has also removed the really hash engine brake that just about had me looking at the front fender every time I rolled of the throttle.

I gave it death for the first 311km and changed the oil and oil filter. I now have 1000 odd km on it now and it's still going well.

My only complaint so far is that you need to remove the subframe and top rear shock mount to get the carb out.

Fuel consumption is about the same as my Shineray with the 30mm Walbro carb - 23km/L. I will start another thread about the Shineray make over after 15000km that my son and I have been doing.

Nice bike mebigdave! I've been trying to buy one of those in the US for over a year now. I found an importer but the deal fell through.

I'd love to see pictures of your's.

Don't touch this bike - I have had so much trouble with mine it's not funny. Been through two gear boxes a carb and about 15 litres of oil!!!

Looks the part but is soft and won't last six months. I broke the second gear box in one day just push starting the bike in third.

Walk the other way - TRUST ME - I'm back riding my Shineray 200GLE with 20,000km's on it and it still starts up right away and does 130km a day without a hic-up

Did Grant at shineray take the bike back?, if he didn't but wants to sort you out you might want to get him to buy the loncin 250 CBD OHC engine from newmanz to transplant into your bike
