I don't see how the stator could cause it :?: . Wouldn't that just keep the battery from charging? I should mention the bike is electric start only, no kickstarter.

I would say don't presume that the plug is ok, just because it's new. Maybe it's a clone, or maybe it was dropped. New plugs are cheap enough that you could rule that out with a genuine NGK.
