Questions about tuning
Hi everyone. I have a 2023 TBR7D
I replaced the carb almost immediately with a PE28FL. Jetted at 120 and 40. Also a nibbi air intake. Additionally added the aftermarket exhaust. I’m at sea level. Bike runs great. Easy to start with little or no choke thankfully because the choke thing is a pain in the ass to get to a Nibbi carb. Lots of fun to ride. How do I know if I should be doing more with my jetting? I don’t have any particular problems just want to get the most out of it. Thanks all! Edit. FYI, I am getting about 64 miles an hour in fifth gear with no sprocket change. |

Wideband O2 is the most ideal.
Plug chop is the old school way.

Ok thanks. Also, I have a 13 tooth sprocket I’m thinking about putting on. I think that’ll get me above 70?

Quote:
larger on the front = higher top speed smaller on the back = higher top speed of course the inverse is true.

I don’t know I’m going to figure it out. 13th tooth front sprocket will not fit. I’m gonna have to make the rear one smaller instead.

a 13 tooth on front would drop your top speed considerably..
a 17t front with a 45 or 40 rear using 428 stock chain sizes would get you to 70. But 70+ on this bike is a less than stellar idea for a number of reasons... |

He has a tbr7d, they come with a 530 chain and sprockets, which makes a 13.tooth about the same size as a 17.

It is amazing how many obscure things the internet has posted! And reading about it on different websites is VERY instructive.
Google search "plug chop 4 stroke" and the kawasaki triple sight came up anyway. Always seems to: http://kawatriple.com/carb/plugchop.htm But there are many others. Here's one: Here's one https://www.motorcyclezombies.com/re...air/plug-chop/ And another: http://www.braigasen.com/howtoread.htm

What he said. ^^^
In the simplest terms possible, your aim is to run the engine at the desired jet/throttle position for a length of time, and then kill the ignition and pull in the clutch at the same time. The idea is to get a "freeze frame" look at the fueling in that specific circumstance. Simply riding around and pulling the plug when you are done isn't actually the best indicator, contrary to popular belief. One perfect example. If you want to know what your idle mixture actually looks like, go out for a ride to get the engine up to temp. Go home, shut it off, hot swap for a clean plug, fire it back up and let it idle for couple minutes. Shut it off, look at the plug.
