zongshen carb diaphragm problem!
Hy guys! Well i have a problem... :(
My zong uses a tekei 28mm carb with a diaphragm as you all know... The problem is-after i removed the top black cap to inspect the diaphragm and ensure its undamaged i tried to put it together and its about 2 mm too big all around the carbs body. 8O I succeded to put it together using a small flat screwdriver while appling pressure on the cap where the diaphragm seated in the groove so it couldnt pop out again. Bike works good, idles good, rides good... :? The question is,if its not seated good (diaphragm) could the bike start, idle and run without showing some major problems? Is there any spare diaphragms to buy (and where) or is interchangeable with some other carb diaphragms? Here in Croatia i can only buy a new TK carb, no spare parts!!! Can i switch TeiKei with Mikuni mv24 28mm carb that doesent use a diaphragm? Thanks for your answeres! ![]() |

If it runs good you got it back together OK and it should not be leaking. The rubber must be deteriorated maybe from exposure to fuel. Don't take it apart again and you should be good. I think the Yamaha TW200 uses the same carb so you can maybe get a diaphram from them, but it does not sound like you need to.

Thanks for the tip FastDoc!
![]() Ill try in Yamaha store. I just wanna have one of these in spare...im always suspicious on these vacuum things ![]() Although its good i took it apart, someone took it apart before i bought it and the little spring on top of the needle droped down it the vacuum piston and jamed there. I dont know how it worked without that on the needle :? I mounted it back on top of the needle before i put everything together. Thanks for the fast answer! ![]() |

When i got a tear on my 400cc carb diaphram it was starting, idling and running ok on normal speeds.Only when i tryed to rev it up to higher rpm i noticed that instead speeding up it was loosing power. Higher gears i noticed it real well, when i did opened gas all out it started booing and bike lost power instead gaining it.
At the Honda store here in Finland they wanted about 200 euros for that slide and rubber. So i did buy new carb without secondary slide and what also have acceletor pump on it for 200 euros and what difference it had. Bike takes off much faster now and on big uphills i see big difference. ( better way ) I know that i have different bike but i guess that they have similar carbs, only my is 32mm. |

Hi! One more question for Zong owners...maybe it will look stupid, but as you know zongs dont have rpm-meters
![]() Is it normal that it breaks/loses power in second gear on aprox 38mph (about 65 kph)? Starts to react like its way in the 'red' zone? I noticed this on a 'hard' test ride after i was playing with that problematic diaphragm so just wanna be sure everythings ok... Finnrider made me suspicous with his situation ![]() Thanks again! ![]() |
