New in NJ
Hi there, my name is mike I am from NJ and I am looking to get an inexpensive utility quad 400cc+. I figure Chinese copies are a good bet. Hoping to get some info and suggestions before I spend money. Look forward to being on the forums.

Welcome Mike!
I moved your post to the Introduce Yourself section, to provide more exposure to your quest for a quad. I encountered two guys coming off of a mountain one day, and they were both riding 400cc quads; one was a Yamaha Bruin and the other was a Baja 400. Those quads were identical in every way except that the Yamaha had a small sensor on the right side of the engine (perhaps a low oil cut-off), and the Baja had four headlights instead of two. That's it. You could literally replace all of the other parts on that Baja with Yamaha parts! If I was in the market for a 400cc China quad, I'd seriously look at a Baja. That same quad was imported with a few different names as well, but I'm not familiar with them.

A few brands have come up as consistently good in my last year or so of china rides: Dinli, CF Moto, Vline, Linhai - also seen others come up too like Kymco (tiawan). There are a few very good ATV factories in China. If you come across a used one post it here and the folks will give feedback.

Here is the one in the US that I was thinking of.

Nice area. I spent a lot of time canoeing there, and riding.
