Hi Randy,

See picture # 12 on the first page of this thread. The plate attached to the bike clearly states that this bike is emissions compliant for "off-highway" use in California. When I was having my shipping problems I asked if I could pick the bike up at their warehouse. I was told that I could not, They can only ship to CA addresses.

My understanding on this issue (although I may be wrong 8O ) is that each bike has to be green stickered individually. The CA Jap bike dealers either do this in bulk or get it done for them by the manufacturers. This doesn't pay off for the smaller power sports dealers as the majority of their sales are in other states.

Nobody is saying that you would be able to get this bike registered or even green stickered in CA. But it is emissions certified so a green sticker should be doable. Registration is another matter, but their are people who have managed to get other China bikes registered in CA. You just have to be willing to take the chance and jump through all the hoops!

In your thread about CARB certification this was stated by Brian...

I don't want to steer you wrong so if you want to register in CA I think the American Lifan is your SURE BET!

thanks for the message desert_drew, but the lifan is not carb certified. brian was not sure. when i emailed american lifan shawn said they might be carb in 2008 but as of now no. i did see the sticker on the speedy and if i cant wait this is looking like my next bike. when i bought my hensim from sunny sports in irvine they did the dmv work for the green sticker. but its been 5 months and i still dont have it. they said the paperwork was lost inthe mail and resubmitted it. yea i know.

Well at least that is cleared up about the AL NOT being CARB certified.

Thanks for looking into that deeper. Everybody here appreciates all the information that can be gathered.

Good luck!

yeah, sometimes i feel like im the only one here trying to get a decient bike (for dirt) which has to be carbed. gets really frustrateing calling websites that think it doesnt matter but they can get in trouble selling to ca without the carb. and i will be stuck with a unregisterable bike.

Can you have bikes certified in CA? I thought I heard someone say they had a Lifan certified in CA. Not shur, I am from Michigan and evidently our local Gov. decided that since no one wants to live here, we might as well trash our air to!!!! 8O

it has to come carb certified from the factory. if the bike is only epa,dot or so called carb but not giveing the specs of emmision info on the sticker you wont get a green sticker saying you can ride offroad all year round.

Have you checked to see if you can add a spark arrester? I added one to my bike so that I was forest legal. Cheaper than the ticket.
