A new Helmet (Scorpion EXO R1), Track time for Gingerman Raceway, and possibly an engine for the sumo.

Throwing one of our two annual BBQ/Parties coming up in June. Felt nostalgic, so I ordered one of these for the open bar. The old guys here should get a kick.....

No internal access to attic. Had to enlarge the hole for the 18" x 12" vent (did that a week ago when I inspected the attic), so I could fit me/the insulation in there. For now, I created a stupid-looking frame for the vent to button it back up. Set up the 15' ladder and took each roll up there one at a time.

Even with it being 62 degrees outside, it was fairly hot in the attic. Did one roll just to see how it would go. Not too bad. By far the worst part is having to bend over or squat and walk that way the whole time. Wore me out. I'm too out of shape. But hey, I'm turning 72 in June.

Q: You fool! Why didn't you get it installed professionally?
A: Because ibuprofen does not cost $30 an hour.
Bought the last 5 rolls of R-30 for the attic, and threw 'em up there to do on Friday and/or Saturday when the heat gets reasonable again. In the 90s today/tmw. Ambient air overnight only gets down to 73! But cooler starting Friday. Plus the space I'm doing is just inside the opening, so not as long a commute on hands and knees to the job site.

Don't you get nervous living in a town with that name? Or is that what keeps the crowds away?

I'd like to say I WISH it would keep the tourists away but no.... People, especially from the Bay Area, flock here. It['s a favorite weekend run for car and bike clubs, alike. So, our role is to play the beer-drinkin', local yokels sitting on the bench in front of the store, who also act as the tour guides for all the strangers.

"Turkey Season" is just now picking up. I actually look forward to it now. Volcano has a neat history and we like being a part of that......plus, once things calm down for the Winter, the population of 103 (in town) is a quiet, peaceful place.

If your town had a marching band, there would be no one left to be the spectators.....

I lived in a weekend-destination town like that for a few years. Cannon Beach, OR, on the coast due west of Portland. Nice for a while, but not a forever place for me.
