Incidentally, the BD headlight comes in two versions of red. The 04Red matches the Honda CRF bikes. The basic Red I chose matches the Honda XR bikes. This headlight also comes in a nice variety of colors other than red. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Prod...rce=googlebase Spud

That's a sharp looking unit; it really updates the bike. Do you mind if I ask, did you pay the amount stated on the website?

My buddy has a pipe for a '85-'95 Honda ATC 200X, anybody know if this will fit my bike? Appears to be similar.

Question #2:
I use this bike frequently on the highway. 45 MPH cruises ok, but I want to be able to cruise at 55 without feeling like its gonna blow. What sprocket/chain combo would you reccommend? The bike recieved a K&N intake, hopefully the exhaust as mentioned, waiting to jet it to find out about exhaust. Then maybe CDI and hotter coil. I think these mods will make the bike much more street friendly. Opinions? |

I've heard these bikes come lean from the factory
Last week I installed a new intake (K&N push on filter and radiator hose) Felt lean, so I moved the needle down a notch, and installed a new spark plug, to get an accurate look at the burn Pulled it today, expecting to see a lean burn, but it looked perfect. I'm at 2100 ft too, and the bike only had 250 miles on it when I got it, I know its not been jetted. Interesting? I plan on doing exhaust in the near future (200X ATC as previously mentioned) Think I'll need to jet higher then? Thanks

Sounds like a great setup. You'll likely need a fatter jet with the new exhaust, but another plug read will tell you. Got any new pics?
The 200 exhaust is definitely worth a try. I'll defer to the DS guys for sprocket recommendations.

No new pix yet, bike looks the same.
Hopefully new plastics here within the next few weeks. Gonna cover the basic engine performance and sprockets before I bother with aesthetics. Probably new fork oil and a nicer rear shock as well.

Sneak peak at what I installed on the bike
It says "Get the hell outta my way"

Is that an air horn? That's awesome! Does it have an integral compressor?

External. Dual horn, that was the smaller one. Sonofagun was LOUD
Too bad the whole setup was a bear to put on the bike. So I ended up returning it and going with a louder low tone electric. $15, and its damn near as loud as the air horn, and only slightly larger than the factory unit.

Here's the one I bought for my Dad's bike, but I don't think he ever got off the couch and installed it: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2137/

I adjusted my valves the other day. There was no clearance on the intake, and about .004" on the exhaust. Set to .05mm (.002") as per specification.
Now the sonofagun is tappin, obnoxiously. Rechecked tolerances, right where they should be. What the hell? Ideas?

Honda clone. Noisy valves. Noisy, but reliable.

Slappy valves are happy valves. Wasn't your bike difficult to start with tight intake valves?
