Yeah I know it's loosley based on the tricker. and the tricker was not much of a trick or stunt bike so much as a marketing effort.

That said I was watching a Motocheeze vid where his buddy was driving the Magician, the pegs are mounted rearward, the rider position is alot like that of a trails bike.

The peg position probly explains the tendancy to wheely much more than say a hawk.

Good to know the digital dash can be set for the smaller wheel.

Thanks for all the input. I bought a replacement carb. It says makuni in it. but I have yet to put it on. (been too busy lately) I also plan on checking the valves as well. I do not think the odometer is even in KM. I did the math on MPH vs. KPH and I do not think this thing is working properly. I have seen the videos on the digital speedo cluster for the hawk. Does anyone know if there is one available for the Magician? or will the one for the hawk fit? Also, I am looking for larger foot pegs and larger shifter and break lever. Anyone know of any good replacements?

Using the Hawks digital cluster on the Magician is the conversation we have been having. I think it is possible, but there are two main parts that I would love to verify some dimensions with in order to know if it could be a bolt on solution for you. The first is the speedometer drive on the front wheel, and the second would be the bolt pattern of the gauge cluster on your bike. If you are willing to do a little work to do some measuring with me so we can compare the two, then we can answer the question if the Hawk cluster could be used on your bike.

UPDATE... I switched out the stock carb with the Mikuni. I left the stock 100 size jet that came with in in it, and did not mess with the mixture screw just to see how it preforms. It was already noticeably better than the original carb ( which has an 86 jet in it) I then went up to a 110 jet size and bought an air fuel mixture screw for the Mikuki on eBay,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Air-Fuel-Mix...ZZGYDA&vxp=mtr

This way I was able to adjust the idle screw and the mixture screw while the bike was upright and running and the engine was hot. The bike now preforms way better than it did originally.

Next I am going to do a full oil and break fluid change and see if doing the break fluid helps the rear brake loosen up a bit. Yes I did clean the rotters with break cleaner when I put it together.

I did disconnect the kill switch on the kick stand so I can start the bike in neutral and let it warm up before riding.

I did notice that when starting the bike, it doesn’t really make a difference wether the choke is on or off. I don’t know if this is just because it has been 90 degrees outside all week, but I used to own a 2009 Yamaha V-Star 650 and you had to start it with full choke every time, and opening and closing the choke really affected the idle speed where in the Magician it does not??? Does anyone know why this might be?

I would also like to put an air pod on the carb instead of using the stock air box. I have been looking for a K&N one that is washable, but all I’m finding are some cheap Chinese ones on eBay or Amazon and I do not know how well they hold up. Does anyone know of a good air pod for that Mikuni carb? any links?

I do think I am going to buy the aftermarket speedometer for the hawk and try to modify it to fit the Magician. I plan on buying a hawk here very soon, so if the digital instrument cluster does not work on the magician I can always put it on the hawk. So I will let everyone know how it goes incase there are people who are interested in doing the same.

Overall I am happy with my purchase of the Magician. Yes it took some work and tinkering to get it running right, but when you factor in the price, I think it was worth it. I do own a 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S so the magician is not my daily rider, just something to off road and beat up, so I was not looking for something expensive anyway. I think when I do buy a Hawk, it will be a lot easier to get it together because I now know what to expect.

It doesn't have an oil filter.

The CG250 engine in these bikes has an oil spinner (centrifugal oil filtration) and a filter screen for the oil pump intake.

The screen is on the left side of the bike, behind the shifter area, it's a big hex head cap with a spring and the screen behind it. This is used to catch larger particulate so it doesn't damage the oil pump.

The spinner is under the right side engine case cover, and this is the primary filtration for fine particles. There are a lot of opinions on the service interval for the spinner, but it would be a good thing to check after the first 1k miles if you are super maintenance oriented like I am. Honda still uses this type of method on the Grom engine, and it's stated service interval is every 7500 miles.

None of these carburetors have fast idle cams as part of the choke arrangement. These air-cooled engines warm up very fast, so a fast idle arrangement would be more trouble than it is worth on these engines...ARH

^That. In cool weather I take my bike off of full choke within a few seconds of getting the bike started, and after maybe a minute of half choke I can turn it off completely. Since there is no water mass to heat up, the cylinder head and body on these small engines warm up very quickly.

As far as the air filter question goes. Work within your budget. Washable filters are always a great option. I prefer foam style filters with either a secondary layer (Uni 2 stage foam filter) or a filter sock/pre filter cover. I can't speak for the durability of the cheaper ebay and amazon units, but a Uni 2 stage pod filter can be had for 15 bucks and has a great reputation. It's what I run on my bike. Link to the one I have. https://www.amazon.com/Uni-2-Stage-A.../dp/B000WJIX6W

The Honda CRF150f is every 1000km or 600miles...
but thats quite alot of riding for a dirt only bike..

So if I understand this correctly, I have to clean the filter screen every time I change the oil?

Another thing. My left turn signals (front and rear) have never worked. Right ones are fine but not left. I checked and replaced the bulbs and still nothing. I messed with the conecters on the handlebags and nothing. I saw a replacement turn signal realy on amazon. Would the relay just affect on side? Any suggestions

Relay would affect both sides the same. Want to test the other side, swap the turn signal connectors between right and left on the front or rear and see if they light up when you switch it to the side that works. Sounds more like the switch for one side isn't making contact.

As far as the filter screen - it's not a bad idea to check it at every oil change. It's a good way to get all of the oil out of the system.

The thing is..
Alot , a dam lot of these bikes never get the filter cleaned and
still run for 30 years or more...
Do it for the first 2 oil changes then at every 3rd or 4th..
