On subject, I saw a guy on a motorcycle today who will probably kill himself. He shouldn't be riding. Not because he rides reckless like people racing around on sport bikes but because he lacks the skill. He took off from his parking spot toward a four way stop, where the person whose turn it was started to turn. The guy on the bike, riding poorly, didn't slow down for the stop sign and sort of aimed on an angle through the intersection... I dunno I can't explain it well but I hope he gets better before he gets dead.

Yeah it was an older Japanese motorcycle of some sort, mid eighties I would say. I think everyone who rides on the street should take a course.

I agree Jim The MCS Course should be manditory. My Step son who has very little experience went out and bought himself a Suzuki GSX600 Sport Bike - Never road street before etc....I lectured him up and down. That was last year. He has gained some experience with the bike but in my opinion NOT Ready. He can hardly hold that thing up. And he's not small by no means. 5' 10 200 +LBS......hE ONLY STILL HAS HIS PERMIT. I keep lecturing him non-stop to take the course then go take the test....He's 23 and thinks he knows it all. Whats a step Dad to do to convince this boy???

Advice? I really don't want to see him get hurt. I want him to do the right thing. I've even offered to take him to the course. nd let him take his test on my little "q"........Dang Kids.....

The course is free in PA. Tell him if he thinks the BRC is a waste of time, then take the BRC2 course. It is one day, and if you successfully complete the course you get your license. No need to renew permits anymore...

I never took the BRC, as it was two weeks long and seemed very basic. I did take what was the ERC (experienced rider course) a few years back, which is now called the BRC2. I already had my license, but I still found the course informative and useful. I actually took the course during a hurricane, so it was fun getting some wet surface practice. I am actually taking the course again with my brother at the end of May so he can get his license. He'll be on the XF, I'll be on the SV.

Exactly. Some good bonding time, and a good learning experience. That's why I'm taking the class again with my brother, and so I can see how he does for the next time he wants to borrow the SV.

I know I'd rather see Son of Weldangrind on a small DS than a GSX600.
