good question about 4th gear, but i know i was in 5th gear.

about the plug, i bought two new plugs the other day but the bike runs to good to have a problem with stock one i believe.

yea i might be asking to much of this bike on that hill at 55 right now. i bought it to ride to work (about 5 miles at 55 to 60 then 3 miles in town) and then do a little trail ridding ever so often. i have one pretty good size hill to climb about 1/4 mile long that i have to give a lot of throttle to in 5th.

i think with a few mods and that 14 tooth gear i will get there. oh yea it should do a little better after a few more miles also.

i just installed a tach i bought off ebay so i will have to check and see what the rpm's are while ridding.

what is the redline on these bikes?

If you ride mostly on the street, the 14T countershaft sprocket will work well for you, Alan. When you replace the counteshaft sprocket, you will need to remove the entire left crankcase cover. Therefore, you would be wise to perform the left crankcase cover modification at the same time.

The redline for the Zongshen 167FML engine should be the same as the redline for the Yamaha, TW200 engine, around 9,500 rpm.

"should" being the operative word. I don't think I'd be revving it that much, but that's just ME. :P

I wouldn't rev it that high either! 8O I am just quoting the redline figures I found while researching the TW200 forum.

I think all of Spud's suggestions will get you going right. Maybe the zong would prefer some white lightning in the tank. We are in the right area.

I think that these little engines run out of breath before they run out of revs.

Spud, maybe your next mod could be a tachometer?

Funny the Zong's don't have a tach. I like the Veypor VR2, it does rpm, speed and a whole slew of other stuff... Downside is that it's like $200... Bummer!

I just wish Q's had a tripmeter, or a gas gauge. :(

I wasn't going to mention that... :(

What's the status on the drive gear replacement?

Got one on order. I asked about getting the part under warranty, but then I have to take it back to the dealer to get it replaced... To much traveling and would have to borrow a truck so I bit the bullet and paid for the part... I can see their point though, if I was wrong in my diagnosis then they sent me a free part. Hoping it fixes it though, sucks to not know how fast you are going . I was seriously considering the Veypor, but $60 is cheaper than $200. The Veypor is +10 on coolness though... Except I think the G calculations and quarter mile times would be a little disappointing on my Konker. Lol!

$57 USD, the part is actually $40 but the rest is shipping and taxes. I would burn at least half of that in gas going back and forth, so it's not that bad

Copy that. AT least the parts are very easy to get, just a click away. No worries or searching.

I'd have done the same thing as you. I'd be inclined to send the Q people the broken part and see if maybe they'll do good by you.

I think I might, I ordered the part through Konker and Allan seems really reasonable. They have one in stock so I should get it in a week or so, just have to watch my RPM's around town .
