Greatful for the post. I followed the direction given in this post and my head bolt is staying tight and steering is true and stable. Here is a pic the triple tree after the maintence was done.

IIRC his fork tubes were mounted low in the triple trees for some reason and he readjusted them.

A is the adjustment that was made. My fork tube washer was actually flush with the top of the triple tree base before the adjustment. B and C are the points that needed to be tighted to get the play out of the steering.



Weldangrind I can see now that that play would have continued to come back no matter how many time I tighted B and C. Until I followed the direction in this post.

Oh no! Help please!

I was adjusting my triple tree. When i was re-tightening the left "top connecting plate" bolt (also holds the left turn signal) I heard a snap. To my dismay, I discovered that the screw pulled so hard it snap the U part that holds the left arm of the fork.

Im jb welding it at the moment, but that just doesn't seem like a good enough of a fix.

That place has the part but for almost 80 bucks.
Can anyone think of a place that may have it for cheaper?

I don't believe I would trust JB weld to that task.

Could you use photobucket to post a pic of your part. I have some lifan parts here and if it is a match I will do alot better than $80.

If that's what I'm thinking the bike is unsafe to ride in it's current condition . Also I don't think the part will be weldable/repairable and will need to be replaced. eBay is your friend here. The only mystery will be figuring out what's up for sale that will fit your bike. :?:

FWIW I've never heard of this happening before. Usually the bolt will strip but I've never heard of an upper tripple clamp failing. It makes me suspect of the manufacture's metalurgy. :?

Thank you guys for your fast responses. Here are some pics of the broken part. Its on a 2006 zongshen sierra gy200.
It was weird cause I didnt even wrench on it all that hard .

Okay. We are going to need Spud to help you out. My upper clamp will not fit.

I believe that the lifan inverted forks are the same too.

You need to buy Katoranger's upper tripple clamp. Your bike is unsafe to ride until you replace it. The good news is that it's a 20 minute job, max.
