I'm a synth guy but I always break em in on dino. Right now, I just put some Chevron 10W-40 in it. It exceeded the recommended rating and most importantly, it's what I had in the garage. 8) With filter, takes a quart. Without changing the filter. My site glass hit the full mark (bike verticle, not on stand) at a little less than a quart.

That question alone generally sparks 50 responses.

Oil change
Believe I changed the oil / filter after the recommended 300-500K... used a synthetic. I'm now up to about 1600K, and without refering to the owner's manual... may be a bit overdue?
BTW, nice pics... mine is still stock w/ extended mirrors (chrome - darn, not the black stock motif).

Welcome to the forum!
On a street bike every 1,000 miles with good oil is plenty frequent enough.

Welcome to these forums, Clarke! I think it's now a good time for you to change your motor oil. 1,600 kms is roughly equivalent to 1,000 miles, the oil change interval I would recommend.

A Fram 131 filter or equivilent is what you'll be looking for.
