Sounds like this 16T and 44T is the magic number for highway.
I plan on ordering parts (Lifan150GY) soon. What chain should I get, and what sprockets?
Also, how was power 1-3 gears? I want more highway top speed, but the bike doesnt have a huge amount of low end either.
Sorry for the newbie questions, I'm new to the bike world

Andrew, why did you buy a shorter chain instead of removing links? Just curious.

Sounds very interesting, but does it still pull okay, or bog down through the gears? I have a 16T front on order, and will try that. I find 1st gear very annoying, way too short. I will see how the 16/45 works, and maybe try a smaller rear if it still feels like it has some power to make it go. I have machining capabilities, so it shouldn't be a problem to make something fit.

Is this the same sprocket? (for TC100)

Or this one? (for TS125)

IMHO, seems to me that going to a 44 from a 45 is only about 2% and hardly worth the effort. The front 15 to 16 swap is about 7% and does make a difference.

I bought the chain to simply swap it out - It's 2 links shorter then the OEM and thats what trev took out - 2links - Just a time saver.....

Andrew,
Get one of these chain breakers from HF. Piece of cake to shorten a chain.

I recommend that you start a new thread that is specific to your bike to gain maximum exposure.

Since you're riding a 150, the 16 / 44 combo may not be right for you. What gearing do you have now? Can you remove both sprockets and show us pics? We can likely guide you once we have a better idea of what's there now.

Thanks Vince - i'll defiately keep this in mind. I just just hought it would be easier to have the shorter chain and If I changed my mind on the sproket I could switch it back easily enough. Not sure this was the way to go - I'm sure I've done dumber things if not.....LOL

Should be a done deal on the 7th. Working on selling my wrecked Silverado too so hopefully it will happen this saturday. Not sure though because the fella isnt answering my follow up call to see if we are still on to do it this saturday. Anyone need a 1995 Silverado extended cab? $500. Runs good and driveable but has big ole dent in the passenger door.

Drat..... :x I won't get into the long story....let's just say if I don't get any good news by Monday or Tuesday, I'm cancelling the order and am back on the hunt for the Elusive 44 tooth Rear Sprocket' again.
We've now reached the point of 'ridiculous'. 17 days now.
I mean....it's a freakin sprocket! Not the Holy Grail!

Sorry to hear that 2lz - I think I posted my sources above for sprockets. I had mine in a few days or less but the source was only miles away from me so thatmade the shipping all the more faster. Now all I have to do is find the time to put them on and try them out! LMAO

We'll see what happens. I'm getting rather burnt on the whole deal. It's a lot of stress for a stupid sprocket.
I'm thinking if this falls through, having my truck driver buddy hit the Suzuki dealer in Reno when he's there this week. Far cheaper from the actual source, if you can get it.

Holy Canoli! :x Well, unfortunately, the first order for the "Elusive 44 Tooth Rear Sprocket", fell through. I'm not going to get into vendors/suppliers etc....as I'm just one guy, who's had trouble with one supplier to a reliable and honest vendor....twice....and the direct vendor I've been dealing with was nice enough to refund my purchase, without hassle.

Anyway, FINALLY found another 44T sprocket through Bike Bandit for a 79-81 DS 125 N,T,X model for a good price. This is SUPPOSED to be the right one, along with the older TS 125.
I've never dealt with Bike Bandit prior but I know others here have, hopefully with no problems.
Fingers crossed......

I've had easier times finding vintage Husky parts compared to this stupid Suzuki sprocket!
