You haven't lived until you've done a sub six hour fixed gear century.

Impressive, especially your wifes' ride. But as WE are one upping each other

100 miles on rollers.
302 miles in 24hr.
200 miles in 12hr30.
1300KM in 95hr. (Paid for this one, physically, for many months. Might still be.)

And...and...1985 LAW Convention in Madison, WI. Ride 100 miles each way from Chez Fromage I to Madison. Do 100-125 miles each day, eat like a horse all day and drink a pitcher or two each night. Get up the next morning, hungover, and do it again. Wait, that sounds an awful lot like RAGBRI.

I was between 25 and 35 when I did these. 62 now. And all done on steel. Except the fixed century, that was CF and Aluminum and I was 50.

I'm afraid my crowning achievement was finishing an MS-150. I look at it as riding back to back Metric Centuries.
-I would have finished much faster on Sunday if New Belgium Brewing hadn't provided several kegs of Fat Tire Ale as we finished up the first leg on Saturday.

"I still have three, but all are multi speed fixed gears. My single speeds are long gone."
I may have kept my fixie if I had installed a fixed 3 spd on it, Cheesy.

"The muscle memory is still there, even if the muscle isn’t."
I know what you mean, Cheesy. I still have a good smooth spin cadence, but I don't have the power to make any speed against the headwinds anymore. I have to shift a lot, like a CVT.

Just so ya know, I still have a new Sturmey Archer S3X sitting in a box in my garage. Black with 130 spacing. Laced it into a wheel and took it back out when I made a booboo in my spoke calculations. It was a beaut of an error, 36 spokes all 10mm too long. I have a Hozan spoke threader but the thought of shortening and rethreading 36 spokes just didn't sound like much fun. So it sits.
That said, the others are hubs I modified. One is a Sturmey AW 3 speed made into a 2 speed fixed hub. One is a Sturmey FW 4 speed converted to 3 speed fixed and the last is an old Bendix Power Brake manual shift 2 speed hub converted to 2 speed fixed. Once past the learning curve, the shifts are pretty much seamless. The Sturmeys have a a lot of built in slop that can be eliminated with a special sliding clutch and have a neutral position, which is handy for resetting the crank at a stop and for coasting down slight grades. Someday I'll explain why they suck on long steep grades.
The Bendix, though, has no slop and shifts like a dream. It's drawback, besides it's rarity, is that there are only an 18t and 19t cog available for it.

Yeah, got the smooth spin and the steady shoulders, just no oomph any more. Which I why I ride three speeds a lot. I set my high gear at 68 to 72" and the lower gears just fall into place. Also, no longer embarrassed to walk up a hill.

Scored this 1974 Raleigh Grand Prix for my daughters birthday.

Granted, it was a hundred bucks more than I paid for my 74 Grand Prix, but this one was fully serviced and has new tires, bar tape, pads, and cables. We ditched the saddle and pedals that came with it and replaced those with the saddle and pedals off her other bike.

This what is being replaced and I've already found it a new home. 1976 Raleigh Sports with a Dynohub and LED lights.

Nice bikes. What truck are they leaning against? It looks Chevy but I don't think it's a chev.

That is a rough looking 1952 Ford F2. Used to be mine but gave it to my daughter and son in law. It's a sleeper, too. Built dual carb 215 six with a 3.73 rear end. When Jake gets on it, the dual exhaust sure sounds like an old Alfa.

Found this nice ride on Pinterest. The post was in the cyrillic alphabet, and probably Russian.
-I would leave the revolver at home, unless I really needed it.

Saw an article about the Gaes Titan Desert race for mountain bikes across Morocco. I have read about insanely difficult mountain bike races like the Ruta del Sol (Costa Rica) and the Trans-Rocky race in Canada.
-I think the Gaes Titan Desert would intimidate me the most because it involves pedaling across the dunes. Even with 4 inch tires on my bike, the sand quickly soaks all the energy out of me.
Pics at the link.

I have about three dozen, maybe more. Unfortunately, only one may be worth something one day. The rest are Chinese crap Walfart bikes that are pretty much garbage.
